Verse of the day

“But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.”

Acts 9:40-41

What an incredible event - Peter does exactly what he has seen Jesus do, and the dead woman is raised back to life.  This must have been a thrilling time for Peter

Verse of the day

“But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task, until I went into the sanctuary of God...”

Psalm 73:16-17

When we meet with God, when we enter his presence - the things that seemed wearisome, a heavy burden, concerning and troubling, become so much lighter - we suddenly see things from God’s perspective. His presence makes ALL the difference.

Verse of the day

“David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die.”

2 Samuel 12:13

These are astounding words - "The LORD also has put away your sin”.  David has committed adultery, and the murder, not just of Uriah, but those also who were killed with him, and has attempted to cover over all his sin, but God knows.  There are big consequences to his actions, but these words of grace and forgiveness are astounding!! Only in the light of the one who is to come and take the sin of the whole world can they be spoken.  And he has come and taken your sin and my sin, and truly  "The LORD also has put away your sin”. What an amazing God we have, what a gracious Father, what a precious saviour!

Verse of the day

“But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart."

1 Samuel 16:7

The Lord sees not as we see - Just as with Gideon, just as with Peter - he looks not upon the outward appearance, but what the individual will be with the presence and intervention of God
