Verse of the day

“And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.”

Luke 18:1

Jesus is after a people who pray and who will not give up!  The action of persistent prayer comes from a revelation of what the Father is like.  It does not come from knowing that we SHOULD pray more, and then we TRY and make it happen; but rather by KNOWING and BELIEVING what Jesus says about the Father.  It comes through us KNOWING him.  Once we see and understand what he is like, we are compelled to pray, to seek him.  It becomes exciting, because it is world changing, and joy-filled because we are about the Father’s work of seeing his Kingdom come.

Holy Spirit show us more of what the Father is like, and may we stand and pray from this increased revelation and from what we already know him to be, a good and gracious Father. And help us to never give up!

Verse of the day

“You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you for ever. Gird your sword on your side, you mighty one; clothe yourself with splendour and majesty. In your majesty ride forth victoriously in the cause of truth, humility and justice; let your right hand achieve awesome deeds.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭45:2-4‬ ‭

Verse of the day

“Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks.”

Luke 12:35-36

We are to “stay dressed for action” - keeping our lamps burning - keeping our spiritual life active and connected to Jesus, ready to open the door to him at once when he comes knocking.

The incredible thing is that the next verse makes clear, that for those who are ready for him, “he (Jesus) will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them.”  He will dress himself for action and serve those who serve him.  That is amazing!  He will come to us.

Verse of the day

"For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.”

Deuteronomy 7:6

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

1 Peter 2:9-10

We have become his treasured possession, a Holy people, set apart for him - that we might proclaim how incredible he is, the one who saved us and brought us from darkness to his marvelous light!  Once we we nobodies, now we are his very own, the people of God.

Verse of the day

“You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.”

Deuteronomy 5:15

Out of all of the 10 commandments, this is the one that is given the most instruction.  We are to remember, that it is the LORD who has done it!  It is the LORD who has released us by his mighty arm and power, not us.  It is the LORD who has won our freedom and brought us out of slavery.  And we are to remember this, by keeping this day set apart to him, keeping it Holy - and to rest.  He is the one who works our great triumph.

Verse of the day

“After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. And he said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Luke 10:1-2

Verse of the day

“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion. The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. I have counsel and sound wisdom; I have insight; I have strength. By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just...” Proverbs 8:12-15

Verse of the day

“Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I tell you? Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like...”. Luke 6:46-47

Wow!  These are words that make us stop and think!  Do we call him “Lord, Lord” and yet not do what he says?  These people called him “Lord” but did not receive his as the functional Lord of their lives.  Those who would call him “Lord” in reality and truth, must:

1.  Come to him

2.  Hear his words

3.  And do them

Father, make us those who seek you out, hear your words and live by them, building on them, the firm foundation.
