Verse of the day

“So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.”

‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:15-17‬ ‭

Verse of the day

“Is not my word like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”

Jeremiah 23:29

God’s word is distinct! It is powerful! It always does something! I want to be a carrier of God’s words! The key to being one who carries his word is found in 23 v 22, when God speaks about false prophets, “but if they had stood in my council, then they would have proclaimed my words to my people, and they would have turned from their evil way…” The one who gets alone with god, who hears his word, who is in his presence, is the one who can speak his words. Very simple isn’t it! To be an ambassador of the king, one who goes for him, you have to actually have heard the king and been with him, and listened to what the message is that he wants you to carry to others. And as carriers of that message, as we give it lives will be saved!

So this is a simple message - listen to the king - prioritize time to hear his voice, to be with him, and we will carry his powerful, life changing message to others. His word is like fire and a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces.

Verse of the day

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: 'The LORD is our righteousness.'”

Jeremiah 23:5-6

Verse of the day

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."

Jeremiah 17:7-8

Verse of the day

“Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the LORD. This is the gate of the LORD; the righteous shall enter through it. I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation. The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.”

Psalm 118:19-22

“…So Jesus again said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep… I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.”

John 10:7 and 9

Verse of the day

“Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD."

Jeremiah 9:23-24

Verse of the day

“All nations surrounded me; in the name of the LORD I cut them off! They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side; in the name of the LORD I cut them off! They surrounded me like bees; they went out like a fire among thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them off! I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the LORD helped me. The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.”

Psalm 118:10-14

Verse of the day

“What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me?”

Psalm 116:12

What a great question?  Because of all God’s goodness to me, what shall I give to the LORD?  It reminds be of Romans 12 v 1 “Therefore... in view of God’s mercy... offer your bodies as a living sacrifice...”. Looking full in the face of God’s mercy, we are to give our whole being to God as our offering.

There is nothing else appropriate than giving our whole selves to him for his service, not in payment, but in response to his amazing gift.  A true gift given makes something in our hearts want to give back to the giver - not out of repayment, but in response to the love we have been shown.

Take my life Lord, for you to use.  Have my time.  Thankyou that you are pleased with us when we turn to you.  Thank you that you delight in us, you are the source of our life and we give to you out of the overflow of that life you have given to us.  Thank you Father that you did not wait for me to draw near to you, but you came near to me.  You did not wait for me to love you first, you loved me.

Verse of the day

“…do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

Here is the total antidote to fear and worry and stress. Cease worrying about anything, but bring it before God instead! Turn to prayer and ask God there for what you need. The atmosphere of it all is “thanksgiving”! That is how we come, remembering who God is and what he has done. And the promise is that when we do this, the incredible, complete, sufficient peace of God will fill our whole being, our hearts and minds, keeping us in Christ and guarding us from every work of the enemy.

I need to come to you today Father! I need to lay it all out before you, not in complaint and negativity, but with thanksgiving. Thank you that you are waiting for us and you have all we need today. You are the antidote to stress. Your presence is delight and joy, and your burden is light and not heavy. You are here! Now I come to you.

Verse of the day

“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:7-11‬ ‭

Verse of the day

“…and the time is coming to gather all nations and tongues. And they shall come and shall see my glory, and I will set a sign among them. And from them I will send survivors to the nations… And they shall declare my glory among the nations. And they shall bring all your brothers from all the nations as an offering to the LORD…”

Isaiah 66:18-20

We are part of the fulfillment of this prophecy- and we are those who go out declaring his glory to the nations, bringing others as an offering to the LORD.

Verse of the day

““Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:1-2‬ ‭

I read these words and something in me loves them! Something in me feels washed by them. Something in me feels at peace and rest. Something in me longs for them. An invitation to come to the source of life and drink freely - not having to pay for it, or work up some form of payment in myself, but just to come to him freely and take his gift of life. I don’t have to run about paying money for what doesn’t actually satisfy, but just to come, eat, drink, listen, receive…

He is our source of life - come and drink from him, come and just be before him, come and rest and receive and enjoy him, come and breath deeply. He is here with us!

Verse of the day

““Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities. “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood. For your Maker is your husband— the Lord Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭54:2-5, 10‬ ‭

Verse of the day

“By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear. They will say of me, ‘In the Lord alone are deliverance and strength.’ ” All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame. But all the descendants of Israel will find deliverance in the Lord and will make their boast in him.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭45:23-25‬ ‭

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:9-11‬ ‭
